Meet Melissa
Melissa Hamilton is a dedicated advocate for the Federal Way community, committed to fostering connections and building strong relationships with the people she serves alongside. She proudly supports a wide variety of community events that bring people together and celebrate the distinctive spirit of Federal Way. From enjoying the vibrant Federal Way Farmers Market and the cherished Kiwanis Annual Salmon Bake to participating in thoughtful “Hot Off The Presses” community conversations, Melissa believes these gatherings strengthen the bonds within the community.
A familiar face at events like the Red White & Blues Festival, the Desna Cup, and the Taste of Federal Way—which supports local nonprofits and small businesses—Melissa also participates in celebrations such as the Diversity Commission’s Community Festival and the annual MLK Celebration. These events showcase the culture, talent, and heart of Federal Way, and Melissa values the opportunity to be part of them.
Melissa’s commitment to community engagement is reinforced by her professional and educational background. Her experience in public safety spans over a decade, including roles as a Community Service Officer and Records Specialist, where she supported law enforcement operations with attention to detail and a focus on service. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Saint Martin’s University and earned an Associate of Arts from South Puget Sound Community College as well as completed two internships with the Thurston County Prosecutor’s Office and Washington State Attorney General’s Office.
Being present and engaged in the community is central to Melissa’s belief that truly representing the people starts with understanding their needs, values, and aspirations. She is passionate about ensuring everyone in Federal Way feels seen, heard, and valued as the community works together to build a brighter future.
